Willie was the third of twelve children. Born in Texas, she moved with her family to Oklahoma. She met and married her husband, Pugh Simons, there when she was 20 years old. They had three children.
At the age of 75 she wrote her great niece (Margie Allred) of her parents: "A very young couple met, fell in love - decided to marry and fight lifes battles together. Twelve children were born to them. All of them dear to their hearts and made welcome. Life held many adversities they met with courage and together. And tried to do their best for the little children entrusted to their care and lived to raise them all. A wonderful man and woman - my father and mother. Wish I could tell you more about them."
Willie celebrated her 90th birthday at the Older American Center with her daughter, LuVeta, and friends.
