Charlotte Evelyn Swartz was the daughter of Peter William and Henrietta Rosetta (Gault) Swartz. She came from a family of 13 children in all. She was first married to Stephen Van Rassler Wellman (died 1943) in 1934 and had seven children, Blanche, Tom, John, Ben, Steve, Grover F., now deceased Jan 3, 2004 and Augusta "Gusty" L. Wellman) Phelps on Jan. 27, 2002. Her second marriage was to George William McPhail on March 8, 1947 (he died in 1954 and they had one daughter, Georgia Belle. Charlotte passed away at her home in Midland at the age of 66. In her obituary the children were listed as Grover and Tom Wellman of Sanford, John and Ben Wellman of Midland, Steve of Flint, daughters Blanche Yack of Sarasota , FL, Augusta Phelps of Sanford and Georgia Bell Myers of MN.
