Letha Fay (Swartz) Jewell was the daughter of Peter William and Henrietta Rosetta (Gault) Swartz. Her siblings were Jennie Elizabeth (Stahl)and Claude twins, (Claude did at birth), Garrett Everett, Florence Rosetta (Straka) Swartz, Jewell William, Hila Mae (Shelley) Swartz, Irene Mae (Erskin) Swartz, Charlotte Evelyn (McPhail) Carl Marion "Lee" (twin to Letha), Peter William Swartz II, Henrietta (Pyman) Swartz and Max Byron Swartz. She married Herman P. Jewell on September 23, 1944 in Breckenridge, Gratiot County, MI. Together they had eight children, four of whom are deceased. Herman P. Jewell, Jr. died May 13, 1944, Herman Anthony Jewell on July 22, 1988, George A. Jewell on March 8, 2004, and Earlin Carl Jewell on January 3, 2006. Letha passed away at the age of 61 at University Hospital in Ann Arbor, Washtenaw Co., MI due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident that occured on May 22, 1984 at the intersection of Blanchard and Isabella in Shepherd, Michigan as a passenger in a car who hit another car that did not yield.
