MASON CITY (PNS) Mrs. Mary Jane Mae Close, 67, died at 2:55 a.m. Wednesday at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital, Lincoln.
Her funeral will be at 3 p.m. Friday at the Cain Funeral Home with the Rev. James Bair officiating. Burial will be in Mason City Cemetery.
Visitation is from 7 to 9 tonight at the funeral home.
She was born June 7, 1900, at St. Louis, Missouri, a daughter of George and Matilda Chestnut McCarty. She was married to John Close, October 5, 1941, at Havana. He preceded her in death.
She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Elinor Aikman, Springfield; Mrs. Florence Bushnell, Lincoln, and Mrs. Darlene Behrens, Green View; four sisters, Misses Lillian and Lois McCarty, both of Long Beach, California; Mrs. Alberta Skinner, South Bend, Indiana; Mrs. Georgette Elbert, Las Vegas, Nevada, and 12 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son and a grandson.
She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church, Mason City.
