Was Pioneer Resident of This Territory – Father of Eight Children.
The death of Mathias Kubitschek at his home in this village at 1 o'clock P.M., Tuesday marked the passing away of one of the early settlers of this community. For many years he was a farmer coming here from Iowa where Mr. Kubitschek lived about three years.
Mr. Kubitschek had been ailing the past year his condition taking a turn for worse the past several weeks. Death was due to old age and pernicious anemia.
Mathias Kubitschek was born in Schoenborn, Germany, on February 15, 1850 and was 77 years of age at the time of his passing away. He attended school in Germany and in 1869 came to America and settled in Iowa and later came to Pierz then known as Rich Prairie. He was married to Rose Trachta in Pierz about 52 years ago. Eight children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Kubitschek, four of whom have preceded their father in death. Besides his wife he is survived by the following children Anna and Mary at home, Mrs. Andrew Tschida of this village and Mrs. John L. Gross of Lastrup.
The funeral service will be held in St. Joseph's church Friday morning, March 18th, at 10 o'clock and interment will be in St. Joseph's cemetery.
