Mrs. Mary E. Bonnett
Mary Ellen Anderson Bonnett, the daughter of John and Elizabeth Harbaugh Anderson, was born Dec. 6, 1846, near Birmingham, Iowa and passed to her rest April 6, 1938 at the age of 91 years, 2 months and 2 days. She was married to Geo. Washington Bonnett in 1867, to which union nine children were born. Mr. Bonnett and three children have preceded her in death. Those surviving her and mourn her departure are C.N. Bonnett, of Blackwell, Okla.; Viola Woods, of Alberquerque, N. Mexico; Anna Simpson of Abingdon, Ill.; Iva Downs, of Levan Saskatchewan, Canada; Rose Elerick, of Phoenix, Ariz.; Cora Swanson, of Florence Ariz.; several grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Samantha Bonnett, and Mrs. Anna Nelson of Birmingham, besides many friends.
She with her husband was converted years ago and united with the Free Methodist church of Oak Grove, near Douds, Iowa, and has been a faithful Christian which was devoted in service for others.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. F.M. James of Keosauqua, in the funeral parlors of Birmingham, Monday, April 11, 2 p.m., burial was in the Maple Grove cemetery east of Birmingham. She was a fine old Aunt Mary, her hoary head was a crown of glory to her, because it was found in the way of righteousness. Her sun went down without a cloud.
