Verda Lovette

EDINBURGH - Verda Lovette, 76, of League City, Texas, died Monday, May 7, 2001, at her home.

A former Amos Plastics employee, Mrs. Lovette lived in Edinburgh until 1967 when she moved to Houston. She also had been a waitress, most recently at Bay View Duck in the Houston area.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Edinburgh Apostolic Tabernacle with the Revs. Mark and Grover Myers officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the church. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery.

Arrangements were made by Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home.

Mrs. Lovette was born in Adair County, Ky., Dec. 8, 1924, the daughter of Arthur and Ollie Burton Barker.

Surviving are daughters, Jerri Sue Sledge and Wilma Taylor, and sons, Dale and Robert Taylor, all of Houston; brothers, Arlon Barker of Deland, Fla., Orlie Barker of Pensacola, Fla., Marvin Barker of McEwen, Tenn., and Donald, Calvin and Johnnie Barker, all of Edinburgh; sisters, Sally Brown of McMinnville, Tenn., and Kathy King of Deland; 20 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by sisters, Velma Keller and Delcie Branigin; a brother, Verlon Barker; and a great-grandson.
