A solemn Requiem High Mass was sung in St. Rita's Church for John Meyer on Monday with Rev. Zachman as celebrant. Burial was in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Pierz. Mr. Meyer died Friday, March 30 at 11:45 a.m. at his home in Hillman after a three week illness from a heart condition.
Pallbearers were his nephews, Michael Meyer, Jr., Melvin Meyer, Dale Janson, Milton Boser, Richard Seelen, and Wilfred Hoheisel.
John was born in Agram Township, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Math Meyer. He married Magdalene Seelen on January 24, 1933 at Lastrup. They resided in Hillman for the past 12 years.
He is survived by his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Clarence (Luella) Pomplum, Minneapolis, Mrs. Eugene (Florence) Smykalski, Silver Lake, and the following sons: SP/4 Jerome, Fort Hood, Texas, Mathew, Roderick, James, and Gary, at home. A son, George, died in infancy. Also surviving are five brothers: Nick, Peter, Christ, and Gust, Pierz; Joe, Lastrup; and three sisters: Mrs. Mike B. Meyer, Sr., Mrs. Alfred Janson, Pierz; Mrs. Joe Faust and Mrs. Leonard Larson, and Mrs. Ed Diederick, Waunakee, Wis. There is one grandchild.
John Meyer was employed at Brunswick Boat Works in Little Falls.
