William Henry Bennett died at his home near Ceresco, on Wednesday, September 13th, at the age of 70 years, three months and 12 days. Heart trouble was the cause of his death. A companion and seven children are left to mourn his death. The sons are Arthur D. and D.F. Bennett of Oregon, O.L. and J.D. of this community. The daughters are, Mrs. J.W. Stewart, Mrs. J. Beaman and Mrs. M. Scandlon, all of this community. Mr. Bennett was an old soldier serving three years in the Civil War. He came here from Virginia and homesteaded the farm where he lived at the time of his death. Outside of his immediate family he leaves one brother, five sisters and nineteen grand children. The funeral was held at the Mt. Zion church, conducted by Rev. Hammerstrum, after which the body was laid to rest in the Mt. Zion cemetery. The pall bearers were Anton Wedburg, E. Quick, Jacob Dooley, J.O. Beaman, John Vanlandingham and S. Harold.
