Mary is the daughter of Thomas and Mary (Miller) Hurtt. She had 6 children with her first husband, Daniel Ingram.

Mary and second husband, William, are parents of Estella Leota and Jay Eldo Bennett.

Mary Elizabeth Bennett was born in Ross County, Ohio, January 27, 1844 and died January 29, 1915 being 71 years, 2 days old. She was married to Daniel Ingram in Ross County Ohio in 1862. To this union were born six children. Mary having died in childhood. They are; Mrs. Jane Jacks, Mrs. Anna Heiler, and William Ingram of Caldwell, Idaho, John Ingram of Kearney, Nebraska, and Dellivan Ingram of Lodi, California.

She was divorced and in 1881 was married to William Bennett. To this union two children were born; Mrs. Estella Beaman and Jay Bennett of Rock Creek. Mrs. Bennett also leaves one brother Stanford Hurtt of Caldwell, Idaho and one sister, Mrs. John Millington of Lincoln, both of whom and four of her children, Mrs. Anna Heiler, Mrs. Estella Beaman, John Ingram, and Jay Bennett were with her when the summons came.

Mrs. was one of the early settlers having come to Nebraska with her family in 1865 where she underwent perils and hardships of the pioneer life but was always brave and cheerful. She united with the Baptist church in 1979 and was always faithful to the church. All who knew her mourn the loss of a true and fine friend. She has made her home with her son Jay Bennett since the death of her husband three years ago.

Funeral services were preached by Rev. Pominger of Valparaiso, Sunday afternoon at the Mt. Zion Church and interment in Mt. Zion Cemetery.

Obituary Contributor: Deano (50599775) also adds from family notes that "Paul said --- if his memory was correct, they had to dig through deep snow drifts, many feet deep to get to the cemetery."
