Miss Bean moved to the St. Anthony and Newdale areas in March, 1987. Ill health forced her into nursing homes in Rexburg and Idaho Falls.

Arlene Bean Meservy -- in her journal, (daughter of Lloyd James Bean -- brother of Ruby Bean), told: "Though times were hard and much work was required to provide the bare essentials, I have no memory of ever being hungry or feeling that we were inadequately clothed. Clothes were made over and used time and time again, many being passed down from one child to the next. Both my parents extended families were kind in passing along unused clothing. Dad's sister, Ruby, who never married and worked all her life as a school teacher, had really nice clothes and she always passed along her clothing to her nieces when she wanted new ones. We felt we were really stylish when one of her dresses or coats fit us." (Added by Saundra Cox)
