Betty Sue (Shelton) Shamblin passed away Sunday, June 22, 2008.She was born Oct. 12, 1944, at her grandmother's residence in Marble, Ark.She was predeceased by her first husband, Rolla Davenport; they had two sons; Rick and Steve. Betty later married Gene Shamblin; they had one daughter, Jeanna.Betty is survived by her two sons, Rick Davenport and his wife, Melisa, of Stillwater and Steve Davenport and his wife, Sheri, of Enid; and a daughter, Jeanna Raymond and her husband, Charles, of Feeding Hills, Mass. Betty has six grandchildren, Trevor, Garrett, Macy, Shelby, Sydney and Sophia.She was also predeceased by seven siblings, four brothers and three sisters, Leroy Shelton, Jack Shelton, R.E. Shelton Jr., Albert Shelton, Gladys Robinson, Hazel Shelton and Ann Hart.Betty is survived by 10 siblings, six brothers and four sisters, Merle Shelton, Valgene Shelton, Robert Shelton, Bill Shelton, Joe Shelton and Tom Shelton, Jewell McCutcheon, Lillian Etter, Shirley Byrum and Sharon Pearce.Betty graduated from Kinta High School in 1962. She went on to continue her education at Eastern Oklahoma State College and received a degree in business from East Central University in Ada and then made her home in Fairland for many years. Betty worked as a high school teacher as well as a computer teacher for NE Area Vo-Tech in Afton. Recently, Betty found great pleasure in assisting the elderly with their taxes through AARP in Nebraska. She also enjoyed traveling and gardening.The funeral will be held in the Whitefield Baptist Church on Thursday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Raney Mathews officiating. Eulogist will be the Rev. Luther Brown.Pallbearers will be Mike Doss, Ronald Shelton, Marty Pearce, Stacy Pearce, Trevor Davenport and Garrett Davenport. Honorary pallbearers will be Andy, David, Glen, Dwayne, Buddy Shelton and Eddie McCutcheon. Burial will follow in the San Bois Cemetery.Betty's family will receive visitors on Wednesday evening, from 6 to 8, in the King and Shearwood Funeral Home in Stigler.
