Sherwood Meilville Maurer, well known resident of Juniata Gap, died at 2:30 a.m. Friday, at the home, of complications, following several months illness. He was engaged in farming during his entire life. He was born at Juniata Gap, March 23, 1866, a son of Henry and Carolyn Maurer. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Irene (Burkhart) Maurer, and 11 children: Mrs. H. A. Larson, Juniata Gap; Mrs. Charles Youhas, Mill Creek; Alice Maurer, at home, Lawrence Maurer, San Pedro, Cal.; Harold and Leonard Maurer, both of Black Hawk,
S. D.; Norman and Raymond Maurer, Juniata Gap, and Leon, Cecil and Kessler Maurer, all at home. Seven grandchildren also survive, one, Cleveland Carls, being reared in the Maurer home. Five brothers and sisters also survive: Blair Maurer, Altoona; Victor Maurer, New York; Mrs. Herbert Piper, Llyswen; and Ida and Dean Maurer, both of Altoona. He was a Presbyterian by faith. Funeral services will be held at Mardorf Methodist church at 2:30 p. m. Sunday. Interment will be in the Maurer cemetery.
