After Harriett's husband, John W. Stevens died, she married Franklin H. Bush, on Nov 02, 1859 and they had four children. In 1871, they bought a store on Jefferson Street, where she continued business until 1892 and then sold both the stock of goods and the building. In 1863, she and Frank bought a beautiful home on the corner of Western Avenue and Hickory St. (224 N. Hickory St.) They built many tenement houses both on the East and West sides and built the Bush block on the corner of Exchange and Bluff Streets. In 1892, she erected the Strobridge building, corner of Van Buren and Joliet Streets.
Frank Bush died Nov 10, 1897 and was buried in Elmhurst Cemetery and she continued to own the 90 acres of land adjoining Bush Park and was superintendant for the Park.
Harriett I. (Deverson) Stevens Bush died September 20, 1909, at 81 years 9 months and 3 days of age, due to surgical shock, after an operation for relief of an obstruction of the large intestine with a contributory cause of a Fibroid Tumor of the uterus, with adhesions. She was buried in the Elmhurst Cemetery and her second husband, Frank H. Bush was moved from Oakwood Cemetery, to be buried beside her. According to a letter from Elmhurst Cemetery, Ridgeland, Lot 55 was purchased by the estate of Harriet Bush on Feb. 24, 1910. Ridgeland, Lot 56 was purchased by Mrs. Kate Stevens on March 30, 1910.
The location of her first husband, John W. Stevens', burial has not been found.
