Hershel B. Hartman, 88, of East Main Street, Palmyra died Sunday, June 22, 2008, at the Lebanon VA Medical Center.

Born July 18, 1919, in Cross Keys, Virginia, he was a son of the late Benjamin C. and Rosa Ann (Kersey) Hartman, the widower of Pauline W. Hartman who died in 1985 and was also preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers.

He was the former owner of Hartman's Garage, Palmyra, was a member of Palmyra Church of the Brethren, Palmyra V. F. W. #6417, Palmyra American Legion #72, and was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II.

Surviving is his wife Arlene (Brightbill) Hartman, children Elaine K., wife of James Burns of Hershey, Linda H., wife of David Smith of Palmyra, Robin L., husband of Lynn Hartman of Lewisberry and Bradley C., husband of Bonnie Hartman of Palmyra; 10 grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 4 step-great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandson.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, June 26, 2008, at Palmyra Church of the Brethren, 45 North Chestnut Street, Palmyra.

Viewings will be held 7 to 9 PM Wednesday at Buse Funeral Home, 145 North Grant Street, Palmyra, and 9 to 10 AM Thursday at the church.

Burial with military honors will be in Grand View Memorial Park, Annville.

Memorial contributions may be made to his church, 45 North Chestnut Street, Palmyra, PA 17078, or to the American Diabetes Association, 3544 North Progress Avenue, Suite 101, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
