Margaret Looney Mareane was born to Michael Looney and Mary Welsh from County Clair, Ireland. Her family immigrated to Elmira, Chemung, New York and consisted of 17 children, 9 of which lived in Elmira. She married 1st Charles D. Schlosser in Elmira abt. 1874 and they had one child that died after childbirth, abt. 02 Sep 1875. Charles died in 1879 and is buried at the Woodlawn Cemetery, Elmira, NY. She married 2nd to Mark Mareane of Owego, Tioga, NY abt. 1884 and they had 3 children. The first was Marinda G. Mareane [1885-1980], the 2nd was Myrtle Marean [1888-1903] born at Seattle, Kings, WA, and the 3rd was Carolyne Adelle Marean [1891-1961] also born in Seattle.

Margaret Looney Mareane husband Mark died during a construction accident at Port Townsend, WA 15 Aug 1899 and she followed him in death 10 Mar 1900 at Seattle. The three children were sent back to Elmira, NY where they were raised by Margaret's sister Anna Looney Powell and her husband Martin E. Powell.
