Frank Neff was born in Vanderburgh County, but in young manhood went to Posey County, where he farmed for many years. He then moved [about 1909] to a farm near Armstrong, Indiana, where he tilled the soil for ten years, and finally in 1919, came to Evansville, where he is now president of Schuler Implement Company, of which he was one of the founders. He is sixty years of age and one of the strong and stable business men of the city, with a number of large interests and several important connections. His father was born in Pennsylvania, whence he came to Vanderburgh County and here passed the remainder of his life in the pursuits of farming."

NEFF HOME AT ARMSTRONG BURNS MONDAY MORNING
Special to The Journal-News.
Armstrong, Ind., Dec. 19. - Several thousand dollars were lost here when the handsome two-story residence of Frank Neff burned to the ground about 2 o'clock Monday morning. All the family except the oldest son [Frank] was sleeping on the second floor. About midnight the house caught fire from an overheated chimney. When the boy awoke the entire second story was in flames and he rushed upstairs and hastily awakened the other members of the family. They rushed out in their night clothes with another piece or two of apparel which they had managed to pick up as they ran. With the exception of these clothes everything in the house was lost. As a result of exposure, Mrs. Neff is very sick.

[Later, it was learned that one of Frank's sons had put wood in the wood stove to heat the house. A large piece of wood did not fit, so he toook it out of the stove and put it back on the wood pile outside. However, the piece of wood had already been ignited and the smoldering piece of wood set the woodpile on fire and it spread to the entire house.]
