He was a farmer, a charter member of Payneville V.F.W., and a U.S. Army Veteran of WW2 where he served in the Pacific theater.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Elaine Ruth (Allen) Atwell, a granddaughter, Ryann Danielle Stanton, and his wife, Nellie Ruth Troutman.
Mr. Allen is survived by 3 sons, Bernie (Charlotte) Allen, Pat (Cindy) Allen and Kent (Nita) Allen, all of Battletown; 3 daughters: Barnetta G. Conroy of Louisville, Kathy C. (Joel) Stanton, Columbiana, Ala. and Vickey (Jr) Carter, Battletown; 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held March 28 from the chapel of Bruington-Jenkins-Sturgeon Funeral Home. Burial was in Parr-Frans Cemetery, Battletown. (Meade Co Messenger)
