Barney W. Allen, 81, Battletown, died March 25, 2006, at Hardin Memorial Hospital, Elizabethtown, He was born Oct 6, 1924, in Meade Co. the son of the late Robert Luther Allen and Essie (Bullock) Allen.
He was a farmer, a charter member of Payneville V.F.W., and a U.S. Army Veteran of WW2 where he served in the Pacific theater.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Elaine Ruth (Allen) Atwell, a granddaughter, Ryann Danielle Stanton, and his wife, Nellie Ruth Troutman.
Mr. Allen is survived by 3 sons, Bernie (Charlotte) Allen, Pat (Cindy) Allen and Kent (Nita) Allen, all of Battletown; 3 daughters: Barnetta G. Conroy of Louisville, Kathy C. (Joel) Stanton, Columbiana, Ala. and Vickey (Jr) Carter, Battletown; 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held March 28 from the chapel of Bruington-Jenkins-Sturgeon Funeral Home. Burial was in Parr-Frans Cemetery, Battletown. (Meade Co Messenger)
