Murph Pappan Rites Set For Thursday.

Funeral To Be Held at Washunga; Burial There Also.

Funeral services for Murphy Pappan, 70-year-old eastern Kay county pioneer who died Tuesday at the Pawnee Indian Hospital, will be held at the Washunga school Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock.

The services will be directed by the Rev. F.H. Shaul, pastor of the Newkirk Christian church, and burial will be in the Washunga cemetery with the Hill Funeral home in charge.

Pappan was born at Council Grove, Kan., February 24, 1871. He was brought to Kay county by his parents at the age of one year and made his home in the Kaw country east of here until his death.

He was in lingering health for about two years.

Survivors are four daughters, Mrs. Marie Ashworth, Mrs. Dorcas Tate and Mrs. Myrtle Williamson, all of Wichita, and Mrs. Bill Henderson of Hardy and seven sons, Russell of Maple City, Kan., Alvin of Kaw City, Gordon of Wichita and Walter, Clyde, George and Wasco, all of Hardy.

Mrs. Pappan died July 21, 1934.
