Annette Leopold (born Antoinette, named after her father) was born in Louisville, Kentucky. Most of her early childhood, however, was spent living with her widowed maternal grandmother, Josephine M. Ludwig in/near Tell City, Indiana.

When her grandmother died in 1913, Annette moved to Louisville to live with her mother Kate (who was a seamstress) and her Aunt Frances Ludwig. Annette became a telephone operator in Louisville at 15 years old. Annette had a good relationship with her mother and especially with her Aunt Frances.

In 1916, Annette married Jerry Thomas Nash - who was soon to serve in the First World War in France. The couple lived in Louisville upon Jerry's return from the war in Europe in 1919 and a few years later they moved to New Castle, Delaware - not too far from where some of Jerry's family lived. Annette and Jerry did not have any children together.

Annette's widowed mother Kate and her Aunt Frances also eventually moved to Delaware from Indiana to be near Annette, possibly around the time that Jerry passed away in 1952.

Around 1962, Annette married James H. Everett who had adult children and grandchildren of his own. In Annette's late years she lived in a community that catered to elderly people in Smyrna, Delaware.
