Born in IL the son of George Washington Benton (Sr.) and Issabella Trigg. He married Frances Malinda "Fancy" Hudspeth 26 Sep 1886 in Carroll Co., AR.
Wash was part Native American, though the percentage is not known. The family has said it was Cherokee or Choctaw. He was a minister to the Native Americans in Oklahoma.
