Gladys Coleman Edmonson, 78, of Athens, passed away Monday night, Feb. 18, 2002, in a Knoxville hospital.
A native of Monroe County and longtime resident of McMinn County, she was a member of Spring Town Baptist Church in Reliance and was associated with McKeehan Chair Company for 19 years until her retirement. She was a daughter of the late Lush and Meadie Lynn Coleman and was preceded in death by two sister's, Elsie Phillips and Esther Harris.

Survivors include her husband, Luther M. Edmonson of Athens; one daughter and son-in-law, Wanda Ruth and Bobby Roberts of Sweetwater; four sons and two daughters-in-law, Johnny Edmonson of Riceville, Calvin Edmonson of Athens, Lester and Robin Edmonson of Athens, and David and Sherry Edmonson of Riceville; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Bessie Hammonds and Lena Wilson, both of Athens; and one brother, Cecil Coleman of Loudon.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Jerry Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. Dennis Leamon officiating. Burial will follow in McMinn Memory Gardens with grandsons and grandsons-in-law serving as pallbearers.

The body will be in state after 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
