John F. Edmonson, 66, of Athens, passed away on Wednesday, March 23, 2016, at Parkwest Medical Center in Knoxville.
A native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, he was a son of the late Luther and Gladys Coleman Edmonson, and was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Alyssa Smith; and brothers, Calvin Edmonson and David Edmonson.
He owned and operated the Riceville Market in the middle '80s and late '90s, was a retired truck driver with Star Transportation, and attended Watson's Chapel in Madisonville.
Survivors include two sons, Danny Edmonson of Athens, and Johnny "Boober" and Samantha Edmonson of Chattanooga; a daughter, Barbara Summers of Athens; sister and brother-in-law, Wanda and Bobby Roberts of Niota; brother and sister-in-law, Lester and Robin Edmonson of Athens; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of Ziegler Funeral Home with the Rev. Bobby Roberts officiating.
Burial will follow in Cedar Springs Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Benji Long, Josh Edmonson, Cody Smith, Ben Summers, Jordan Edmonson, and Johnny Edmonson.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
