Calvin Luther Edmonson, 53, of Athens, died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2005, at his residence.


A lifelong resident of McMinn County, he was a son of the late Luther and Gladys Coleman Edmonson. He was of the Baptist faith and worked as a construction worker.


Survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law, Angella and Brian Cooley and Heather Edmonson, all of Athens; one granddaughter, Taylor Hancock; one grandson, Chayse Cooley; his former wife, Freda Edmonson of Athens; one sister, Wanda Roberts of Sweetwater; three brothers, Johnny Edmonson of Riceville, and Lester Edmonson and David Edmonson, both of Athens; and several uncles and cousins.


Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday in the chapel of Jerry Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. Bobby Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in McMinn Memory Gardens.


Pallbearers will be Danny Edmonson, Johnny Edmonson, Michael Edmonson, Tony Carpenter, Ben Summers and Steven Duggan.


The body will be in state at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Thursday, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
