"Baird Funeral Is Held Sunday"

Prominent Jellico and Campbell County Man Passes Away Saturday Morning. Jellico, Dec. 10 - Z.D. Baird, prominent business man of this part of Tennessee and Kentucky, died at 1:30 a.m. today. He suffered a stroke of paralysis recently. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church, the Rev. Fred Moffatt officiating. Mr. Baird was born in Elk Valley in 1862. He was president of Union Bank, Jellico Wholesale Hardware Co., and Dixie Hardware Co. of Middlesboro, Ky. He owned considerable real estate in Campbell County, Tenn. He was a leader in First Baptist Church of Jellico. Surviving are his widow and seven children, Jay Baird and Lloyd Baird, Jellico; Robert, Mrs. Wayland Smith and Mrs. Elmer Russell , Middlesboro; Mrs. C.R. Wallace and Miss Eleanor Baird, Harriman. Several people of LaFollette, where Mr. Baird was well known, attended the funeral Sunday afternoon.
