Cynthia O. Ameigh, 88, of Cicero, died May 9, 2008, after a short illness. Cynthia was born in Malone, NY. She lived in Skerry, NY, until her marriage to Walter L. Ameigh on December 24, 1942, in Parsonsburg, Maryland, and then moved to Syracuse. In 1947 they moved to Cicero, where she resided until her death. She worked for Dr. Frank D. Williams of Cicero until his death and then went to Hosler Pharmacy of Cicero. Cynthia was a member of James Harvey Spire Unit #787, American Legion Auxiliary, for 47 years, working her way through the organization. Cynthia was unit president from 1963 to 1965, Onondaga County president in 1979 and Chapeau of Onondaga Salon #154 of the 8et 40 in 1988. She had the honor of installing her daughter, Diane Coates, as county president in 1985, the first mother/daughter president at the county level. She was an active and devoted member of the legion family well into her early '80s. Cynthia was predeceased by her husband of 48 years, Walter, in 1990 and her youngest son, Daniel, in 1995. Cynthia is survived by a daughter, Diane (John) Coates of Theresa; a son, Kenneth (Linda Teller) Ameigh of Cicero; four grandchildren, Christina Ameigh, Jennifer Madura, and Craig and Paul Vollmer; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 13, in Williams Funeral Home. Burial will be in Pine Plains Cemetery, Clay, NY. Friends may call 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, May 12, at the funeral home at 8261 South Main St. (Rte. 11), Cicero, NY. Contributions may be made to James Harvey Spire Unit #787, American Legion Auxiliary, Legionnaire Dr., Cicero, NY 13039.
