"Mary Ethel Browning, 83, died at 1:40 P.M. Friday, December 17, 1976, at St. Anthony Hospital in Louisville. A native of Marion County, she was a daughter of the late John T. and Elizabeth Abell Mattingly. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Browning, who died in 1968. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Gladys Mattingly of Fern Creek; Mrs. Margaret Ledwell of St. Petersburg, Florida; Mrs. Nancy Osborne of Jeffersontown; Miss Rita Browning of St. Mary; five sons, James Samuel, Ben and Edgar of Lebanon; John Thomas of Bradenton, Florida; and Mike of Louisville; fifty-four grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren. The funeral was conducted at 10 A.M. Monday at St. Charles Catholic Church by the Rev. Henry Knopp, with burial in the church cemetery. Bosley Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. Pallbearers were Mack Mattingly, Dennie Bryan and Sammy Browning, Donald Brady and Keith Osborne."
