Leo Paul Schaefer, 73, of Austin, died on May 5, 2008 at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester.

Leo was born April 10, 1935 in Austin to Joseph and Celestina (Winkles) Schaefer. He was a laborer. Leo loved bowling, fishing, watching sports and spending time with his children, grandchildren and friends.

Survivors include his children, Debra (Dennis) Aldrich, Faribault, Cindy (Curt) Boyer, Austin, Bruce (Terra) Schaefer, Blooming Prairie, Cinda (Mark) Noble, Lansing; 10 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; siblings, Margaret Whalen, Austin, Dorothy Schlichter, Austin, Sy Schaefer, Austin, Wilfred "Bill" Schaefer, Austin, Helen (Jack) Sershen, Austin, Bernerd (Pat) Schaefer, Austin; former spouse, Marie Turner, Austin; many nieces, nephews, friends and relatives.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Karen Schaefer on Sept. 15, 1985; brother, Raymond Schaefer; sister, Rosemary Danley.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at Queen of Angels Catholic Church with Father Dale Tupper officiating. Friends may call one hour before the service at the church on Wednesday. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery with military rites by American Legion Post #91. Mayer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

The honorary casket bearers will be Collin Boyer, Catelinn Boyer, Kailee Aldrich. The casketbearers will be Angie Noble, Ronnie Aldrich, Joshua Noble, Christina Boyer, Courtney Boyer, Brianna Aldrich, Tia Schaefer, Nicholas Aldrich.
