WILMER L. BUCK
EMMETT - Wilmer L Buck,87,of Emmett, died Sunday, Jan 29, 1989, in an Emmett nursing home.
Mr, Buck was born Sep 7, 1901,at Smith Center, Kan, the oldest son of Walter & Ada(Bowman) Buck. The family moved from Kan.to Stites Idaho by train then to Emmett by covered wagon in 1913. He worked as a laborer, maintaining the irrigation dam and canals on the Payette River. He then worked for his father on the Emmett bengh were he removed sagebrush and leveled many acres of land for irrigation. He married Grace Schrecongost on March 31, 1924.
He was a lifelong farmer, and had been a member of the local dairy association. He was a member of the Black Canyon riding club, and the Gem County Sheriff's Posse.
Mr. Buck donated many hours of his time in construction of the original Gem County fairgrounds. In his later years, he was superintendent of the Emmett bench irrigation systerm, and was foreman of Little's Van Duessen ranch.
Survivors include his wife Grace of Emmett; a brother, Ralph Buck of Kelso,Wash; a sister, Inez Mason of Mess, Ariz; a daughter-in-law, Alice Buck of Eagle Ida; two grandsons, Chauncey Buck of Hyannis Mass; and Ty Buck of Boise Ida; and and many nieces, nephews and cousins. A son, Capt. Donaid Buck, and a brother, Earnest Buck, died earlier.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Tusesday, Jan 31, at the Potter Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Lee Olmstead of the Emmett First Christian Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Emmett Cemetery.
