Walter Thurman Welden, age 73 of LaFollette passed away Jan. 18 at St. Mary's of Knoxville. He loved going to church, small engine repair, yard sales and fishing. He also enjoyed the mountains where he would like to ginseng.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mossie Welden; father, Elmer Welden; brothers, Steven Welden; sister, Bertha Guy.
He is survived by his mother, Gracie Welden of LaFollette; daughters and son-in-laws, Alta and Teddy Smiddy of LaFollette, Connie and Ray Malicoat and Glenna Welden both of Clairfield; brother, James Welden of Knoxville; sisters, Aldy Taylor, Mildred Murray, Barbara Brandenburg, Joyce Kennedy and Linda Shelton, all of LaFollette, Bobbie Dodds of FL and Hannah Green of Jacksboro; grandson, Bradley Smiddy of LaFollette; several nieces, nephews, a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Jan. 21 in the Martin Wilson Chapel with the Rev. Lonnie Welden and Rev. Audie Murray officiating. Interment was in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery.
