Elmer Franklin Welden, 74, Route 1, LaFollette, died September 6 at University of Tennessee Hospital in Knoxville. He was a member of the Church of God and the United Mine Workers Association Local 1569.
Funeral services were Sunday at Fincastle Church of God with the Revs. Harry James, James Taylor, and Clarence Walden officiating. Interment followed at Peabody Cemetery. Martin Funeral Home in LaFollette was in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Gracie Welden of LaFollette; three sons, Thurman, James and Steven Welden of LaFollette; nine daughters, Mrs. Aldy Taylor, Mrs. Mildred Murray, Mrs. Bertha Guy, Mrs. Barbara Brandenburg, Mrs. Hannah Green, Mrs. Joyce Thornton, Mrs. Linda Shelton and Irene Welden of LaFollette and Mrs. Bobbie Sue Marlow of Lakeland, Fla.; one sister, Mrs. Lillie McGill of LaFollette; 56 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
