"Green and Mary Emaline (Kerr) Parish. .....were natives of North Carolina, in which State they were married, afterward moving to Indiana, and engaging in farming for a time in Rush County. They then moved to Wayne County, and afterward to Marshall County, in which place the father died in 1864, aged sixty years, and the mother in 1874, also aged sixty years. "

Know all Men by these Presents, That we, Green Parish and Nathaniel Lawrence in the state forsaid, are hed and firmly bound unto John Owen, Esq. The Governor of the State of North-Carolina for the time being, in the just and full sum of five hundred pounds, current money of the State, to be paid to the said Governor, or his successor or assigns: To which payment well and truly to be made and done, we bind ourselves, our heirs, executors and administrators. Sealed with our seals, and dated this 4th day of February A.D. 1830

THE CONDITION OF THE ABOVE OBLIGATION IS SUCH, That whereas the above bounden Green Parish hath made application for a License for a Marriage, to be celebrated between him and Polly Kerr of the county aforesaid: Now in case it shall not appear hereafter that there is any lawful cause to obstruct the said marriage, then the above obligation to be void - otherwise to remain in full force and virtue.
