James Ozel Stegall was born December 31, 1933, in New Salem Community, MS to Albert Stegall and Bernice Mattox Stegall. He went home to be with his Lord and Savior on September18, 2023, he passed peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family. He was preceded in death by both of his parents, his loving wife of 50 years, Christine Stegall (married December 26, 1952), brothers Samuel, Edwin, Hazen and Charles, sisters, Anna Ruth, Jean and Betty Sue. Son in law Ken Cord. He is survived by daughters, Pamela S. Cord, Okahumpka, FL and Donna S. Glaze (Jeff), Sorrento, FL; Grandson, Joshua Glaze (Charlotte), Jenks, OK, Granddaughter, Cherish Glaze (Jared Boop), Eustis, FL, three (3) great grandchildren , Lily Glaze, Caleb Glaze, and Cambria Glaze numerous nieces and nephews, his brother, Lionel Stegall (Martha), Smithville, MS and brother-in-law, Paul Morrow, Smithville, MS. James loved God, his family, his church of 55 plus years, First Baptist Church of Tavares, and Midway Baptist Church which he helped to establish in 1965. He was ordained into ministry and served as a deacon in both churches. During his working career he spent 30 years with the Lake County School Board Maintenance Dept. where he retired in 1991. He loved working in his yard and took pride in having a beautiful lawn and many flowers. He dedicated his life to serving God by serving others, and raising his family. He was very much loved by many and will be greatly missed. For now, he will be rejoicing in the presence of the Lord Jesus Himself and many that have gone on before.

Friends and Family will gather with a viewing on Sunday, September 24, 2023, from 1:00PM-2:00PM, with Funeral services beginning at 2:00PM at Steverson, Hamlin and Hilbish Chapel in Tavares, FL. Interment will follow the service at Tavares Cemetery.
