Mr. William Troy Thomas, 85, died Saturday (April 12, 2008) at Baptist Village Retirement Community following a short illness.

He was a native of Brantley County and lived most of his life in Brantley County. He was the son of the late John Calvin Thomas, Sr. and Beatrice Lucas Thomas.

He retired in 1983 from Seaboard Coastline Railroad. He was a member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church and the Senior Men's Sunday School Class.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Thomas of Waycross; a son, Troy Dewayne Thomas, Sr. (wife Delores) of Waycross; three grandchildren, Troy Dewayne Thomas, Jr., Robert Strickland, and Tammy Richardson; a sister, Ruth Waters of Waycross; two brothers, William Clyde Thomas of Waycross, John Calvin Thomas, Jr. of Patterson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday (April 15, 2008) at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at Music Funeral Home Monday night from 7 until 9. The Senior Men's Sunday School Class are requested to meet at the church at 1:40 p.m. to serve as honorary pallbearers.
