Charlene Canup Shaw passed away on September 17, 2023, a month after celebrating her 90th birthday. She was born in Royse City, Texas on August 17, 1933 to Nellie Mitchell and Horace Chilton Canup. Charlene graduated from Royse City High School and later married her late husband, Earl Bennet Shaw on January 17, 1951.

Charlene was a dedicated wife and homemaker who took care of her family with love and devotion, especially when her children were small. She had supper on the table at 5:30 every day, and her family always looked forward to her delicious home-cooked meals. Charlene had a passion for sewing and made most of her children's clothes, which they wore with pride. She also loved spending time outdoors, working in the yard, and tending to her beautiful flowers, particularly her favorite flower, the daylilies.

Charlene's passion was quilting, and she had a heart for gifting handmade quilts to her loved ones. She made quilts for her daughters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and other relatives, and even her close friends were blessed with them. Charlene had a generous spirit and would also donate her quilts for special events and organizations. Her quilts were so appreciated that one of them even made its way to Haiti. Charlene's legacy lives on through the warmth and comfort her handmade quilts provided to those who were lucky enough to receive them.

Charlene is survived by her daughters, Debbie Fry and husband, Buddy, of Grandview, Texas and Lisa Eastham and husband, John, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; her grandchildren, Brittany Barnes and husband, Todd, of Grandview, Texas, Lindsey Sullivan and husband, Ryan, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Leslie Arnott and husband, Jason, of Mansfield, Texas, Joshua Eastham of Dallas, Texas, Lainey Eastham of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Nicholas Arnott of Mansfield, Texas, Emma Arnott of Mansfield, Texas and Jacob Arnott of Mansfield, Texas; her great grandchildren, Cohen Barnes, Jude Barnes, Zoey Barnes, Bennett Arnott, Charlie Sullivan, Eleanor Barnes, Sidney Sullivan, Drew Arnott, Riley Sullivan; and many nieces, nephews, and other loving family and friends.

Preceding Charlene in death is her loving husband, Earl; her parents, Nellie and Horace; her grandson, Aaron F. Fry; and her siblings, Chilton Canup, Sam L. Canup, Wanda Peoples and Randall "Chic" Canup.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, September 23, 2023 in Reflections at Rest Haven Funeral Home, 2500 State Highway 66 East, Rockwall, Texas. A gathering of loved ones and cherished friends will be held an hour prior to service in The Gathering at Rest Haven.
Charlene will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband, Earl, at the Rockwall Memorial Cemetery following the service.
