Funeral services for Wanda Runelle Peoples, age 91, of Buffalo, Texas, will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, March 26, 2016 at the First Baptist Church in Buffalo, Texas. Bro. Alan Grisham will officiate the service and interment will follow in the Buffalo Cemetery. A public visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. till 7:00 P.M., Friday, March 25, 2016, at Walters’ Buffalo Funeral Home. Wanda Runelle Peoples was born on November 10, 1924 in Royce City, Texas to Horace Chilton & Nell Allen (Mitchell) Canup. She married her husband, Thomas Peoples, on April 20, 1946. They moved from Rockwall, Texas to Buffalo in 1965. Wanda was a member of the First Baptist Church here in Buffalo. She loved her garden and flowers, but above all, she enjoyed her family. She was a longtime member of the Leon County Home Extension Club. Wanda passed away on March 23, 2016 at her home. She was preceded in death by both parents; her husband of sixty-four years, Thomas Peoples; a son, Paul Peoples and three brothers, Sam L. Canup, Horace “Chic” Canup and Randall Canup. Surviving family members include daughters, Donna Lynn Vercher (Johnny) of Buffalo, Lori Ann Yates of Buffalo; a sister, Charlene Shaw of Baton Rouge, LA; six grandchildren, Kathryn Thomas (Jimmy), Lacie Bankston, Erin Gee (Tom), Jessica Overand (Alan), Jana Yates, and Julie Yates and nine great-grandchildren, Neely, Jorja, Canyon, Soaryn, Thomas, Aubrey, Henry, Josh and Kaley. Walters’ Buffalo Funeral Home in Buffalo is in charge of all arrangements.
