Clara Ehlers, Gladstone, Mo., passed away Thursday, October 13, 2011, at her home. She had a five plus year battle with Alzheimer's. She was born on May 1, 1937, in Dearborn, Mo. Visitation will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 23, with a memorial service at 5 p.m. at King of Kings Lutheran Church, 1701 NE 96th St., Kansas City, MO 64155. In October 1960, she married Hubert Ehlers, who preceded her in death. She was a homemaker until their kids graduated from high school and then went to work for TWA in accounting. She and Hubert enjoyed traveling with TWA passes and always enjoyed their grandchildren. Clara was preceded in death by Hubert and her parents, William and Fern Allan. Survivors include two children, Julie (Curtis) O'Rear, Gladstone, and Allan (Carolyn) Ehlers, Parkville; a sister, Peggy (Marlin) Hunt, Peculiar, Mo.; brother-in-law, Clarence L. (Judy) Ehlers, Cole Camp, Mo.; four grandchildren, Christopher, Emma, Davis and Carl; seven nieces and nephews and 10 great nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers the family request contributions to the church or the Alzheimer's Association, 3846 W. 75th Street, Prairie Village, KS 66208 in Clara's name.
