Viola Anne Jurgensmeyer, age 94, of Tipton, passed away on Sunday, September 3, 2023, at McClay Senior Living in St. Peters. She was born in St. Elizabeth on March 18, 1929, daughter of the late John Anton and Rose (Oligschlaeger) Luetkemeyer. On August 29, 1950, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in St. Elizabeth, Viola was united in marriage to Ambrose C. Jurgensmeyer, who preceded her in death on April 25, 2006.
Viola had a rewarding career as a homemaker and assisted her husband on their turkey farm in Tipton. Viola loved to travel the world with her husband Ambrose and her favorite pastime was playing cards. She was a member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Tipton.
She is survived by five children, Bruce Jurgensmeyer of O'Fallon, Dale (Jane) Jurgensmeyer of Longmont, Colorado, Daniel (Beth) Jurgensmeyer of Broomfield, Colorado, Carol (William) Ebeler of St. Peters, and Marlene (David) Wessel of Ballwin; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three sisters, Lenora Bax, Helen Butterfield, and Patricia Oidtman; and numerous family and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by five brothers, Fred Luetkemeyer, Donald Luetkemeyer, Louis Luetkemeyer, Henry Luetkemeyer, and Joe Luetkemeyer, and infant sister, Berniece Luetkemeyer.
Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., with Mass of Christian Burial following at 11 a.m., on Friday, September 15, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in St. Elizabeth with Fr. Christopher Aubuchon officiating. Interment will be held in St. Lawrence Cemetery in St. Elizabeth.
Arrangements are under the direction of Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in St. Elizabeth.
