Margaret Anne Barnett Sundby was born on July 30, 1921 in Childress, Texas, the only daughter of J.P. and Elizabeth Thomson Barnett. She departed this earth to be with God on Monday, Sept. 12, 2005.

Margaret graduated from Childress High School and earned a degree in Elementary Education from West Texas State University in Canyon, Texas. She taught school in Childress, Lubbock, and Abilene. In Abilene, she taught 2nd grade at Austin Elementary School.

She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church for over 50 years. She and her husband, Ralph were life long members of the Propheteers Sunday School class. She also was a member of the Abilene Woman's Club.

Margaret enjoyed the company of her neighborhood coffee group that started in 1957. She loved her cat "Smokey" especially when he sat in her lap. She loved to play bridge, shop, dance and travel. She and Ralph traveled all over the world together. They lived a happy, loving, exciting and meaningful life. Their family and friends meant the world to them.

She is preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, Lloyd. She is survived by her son Stephen and wife Bonnie of Boerne, Texas; daughter Susan Edgar and husband Rox of Hockley, Texas, and grandchildren Sean and Eric Sundby and Darcy and Joe Edgar. Also surviving are her brother James Barnett and wife Merle of Ft. Worth, Texas and niece Dr. Joanna Gibson of College Station and nephews Rusty Barnett of Denton, Texas and Ron Barnett of Lubbock, Texas.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thurs. Sept. 15 at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory in Abilene, Texas. A celebration of Margaret's life will be held at 10:00a.m. on Friday, Sept. 16 at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 525 Beech, Abilene, Texas, with entombment in Elmwood Memorial Park Mausoleum.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N Michigan Ave. Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601-7632, or online at www.alz.org/Donate.
