Norman Jerome Browning passed away on August 19, 2023 at the age of 75 at the VCU Medical Center in Richmond, Virginia. Death came after a long and courageous battle with Cancer. Norman was the son of Clair Browning and Bernice Dooley. He was born in Matheny, West Virginia on September 18, 1947. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Gary Browning and Stephen Browning of Beckley, WV and sisters Sharon Aliff of Foster, WV and Sandra Childers of Richmond, VA He is survived by his loving wife Lisa Marie Browning; two children Terri Estep (Todd) of Winchester, VA and Norman Browning, Jr. of Richmond, VA; 2 grandchildren: Casey Estep (Maureen) of Charles Town, WV & Noah Estep of Winchester, VA, and 4 great grandchildren: Colt, Ally, Lilly, & Ava. Surviving siblings include two brothers: Nolan Browning (Freda) of Myrtle Beach, SC and Raymond Browning (Linda) of Beckley, WV and two sisters: Carolyn Milam-Becker (George) of Myrtle Beach, SC and Leisha Brotherton (David) of Ypsilanti, MI. Norman attended Oceana High School, (Oceana, WV) and the Wyoming County Vocational-Technical School (Pineville, WV). He earned countless advanced educational and training certificates through private sector institutes and workshops. He was well-known in the industry for his expertise in information systems and warehousing. Of particular note was his industrial leadership in the design, layout and construction of warehousing facilities for the Richmond, Virginia based VAMAC Corporation. He worked for the VAMAC Corporation for 30+ years, most recently, before retiring, served as the Vice-President for Operations. VAMAC is a plumbing wholesaler with 22 locations throughout the Mid-Atlantic region of the United States Norman was an Army veteran during the Vietnam War. He served from October 1966 thru October 1968. Service locations included: Basic Training at Fort Bragg, NC / MOS Training at Fort Monmouth, NJ / 15 Month Tour of Duty in Nuremberg, Germany. He was discharged at Fort Dix, NJ at a rank of Specialist 5th. Class. On a personal note, Norman was a generous and loving husband, brother, father, and friend. He loved his family and friends dearly. He was extraordinarily gifted with a high mechanical aptitude and was always helping family and friends with related problems. He was loved and respected by everyone. He was truly a special person and will be missed by all whose life he touched. A celebration of life will be held at 2 pm on September 7, 2023 at Bliley's Staples Mill 8510 Staples Mill Road Richmond, VA 23228 with visitation one hour prior.
