Francis grew up in Linton Township, Coshocton County, Ohio and went to the Plainfield School. His parents died young and Francis and his brother Bill were raised by their Uncle Francis Boyer. He joined the Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Japan. After leaving Coshocton County, Ohio he lived in Phoenix, Arizona where he got married and retired. Francis moved to Pennsylvania after he retired. His wife and daughter remained in PA after his death. His brother Bill always called him Pooch. He never kept in contact with the Baker family next-door after he left his home area in Ohio.
