Clyde Patrick Dunlap, age 64 of Philipsburg, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, June 29, 2023.
Clyde was born on November 27, 1958 in Philipsburg to the late William, Sr., and Patricia (Dullen) Dunlap.
He was a 1976 graduate of West Branch Area High School where he was class president and Valedictorian of his graduating class. He was a member of Morrisdale Volunteer Fire Company throughout his high school and college years.
Upon his graduation, Clyde received the Melvin S. Isenberg Engineer of Tomorrow Award from the Pennsylvania Society of Professional Engineers. He went on to earn his bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering at Penn State University. In 1980 he began working at HRI Inc in State College, PA where he became Chief Engineer. He spent 42 loyal years at HRI before retiring in 2022 to relax and enjoy time with his family.
In 1980 he married his wife of 43 years, Dorothy Haversack Dunlap of Hyde, PA and survives in Philipsburg, had three children, Michael Dunlap, who preceded him in death; Adam Dunlap, Philipsburg; Amanda Walsh and husband Timothy, Palatine, IL; a grandson, Timothy Michael Walsh, Palatine, IL; his mother-in-law, Patricia (Magnuson) Haversack, Hyde; his siblings, William Dunlap Jr, Belleville; Janey Bartley, Lewistown; Andrew John Dunlap, and his wife Bobbi, St. Charles, UT; Debra (Thompson) Slippey, Morrisdale; and his siter-in-law, Jeanette (Dunlap) Ostrofsky and her husband Eric, Munson.
Along with his parents and son, he was preceded in death by an infant sister, Betty Lou, a brother, Rick Dunlap, his brother-in-law Douglas Thompson; his nephew Edward Cambia; and his father-in-law, Walter Haversack.
Methodist by faith, Clyde enjoyed hunting, fishing, and attending NASCAR races with family and friends. He was a hugh sports fan and enjoyed cheering on the Steelers, Pirates, Nittany Lions, Chicago Cubs, and all the sports his children played throughout their school years. Clyde was a history buff and loved to travel with his family to visit new places throughout the country and the world.
Family and friends will be received on Thursday, July 6, 2023 from 5-8:00 PM at Strange & Weaver Funeral Service, Morrisdale and again on Friday, July 7, 2023, from 11:45 to 12:45 AM with the funeral service beginning at 1:00 AM in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Julia Piper officiating.
He will be laid to rest in Grandview Cemetery, Morrisdale.
