Mrs. Lawrence was born in Charlestown, Schoharie county, July 26, 1836, and was married to Benjamin F. Simmons of Camden. N.Y. in 1855. Her husband died in Vernon, N. Y., in 1869. In 1876 Mrs. Simmons was married to Grove Lawrence of Vernon, who passed away in 1891. She had resided in Rome for several years and had a large circle of friends in that city who will regret to learn of her death. In Camden, also, and in Vernon, there are many old acquaintances, and in Stittville there are also many who will greatly regret her death. She possessed those pleasant and winning traits of character that made her deeply beloved, not only in the home circle but wherever her acquaintanceship extended. Kind, solicitous for the comfort of others, she will long be remembered with affection.
Mrs. Lawrence is survived by the two sons mentioned above and the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. John P. Smith and Dr. Hiram Cain of Camden, Mrs. William Tiffany and Frederick Cain of Redwood Falls, Minn.; Seth Cain, formerly of Batavia, but who is now spending some time in Camden.
The funeral was held at the home of her son. David B. Simmons, Stittville, at 10 a.m. Monday, and the remains were brought to Camden the same day and laid to rest in Forest Park Cemetery.
