Camden Veterinary and Farmer Succumbs
to Long illness—Veterans
to Have Charge of Funeral.
Camden, May 11.—The death of Dr.
Hiram J. Cain occurred at his home
on Main street at 11 o'clock last evening.
Death resulted from a complication
of diseases.
Dr. Cain was born at Canandaigua
in July 78 years ago. He was a veteran
of the Civil War and enlisted at
Camden in the Eighth Cavalry. Since
serving in the army he bad been a
farmer and for many years was a
veterinary but, on account of poor
health, several years ago be retired.
Dr. Cain was a son of the late
Stephen and Mary Bauter Cain of
Canandaigua and is survived by his
wife, four sons and two daughters;
two sisters, Mrs. William Tiffany of
Redwood Falls, Minn., and Mrs. John
P. Smith of Camden, and also two
brothers, Fred of Redwood Falls,
Minn., and Seth Cain of Oneida.
The funeral will be held on Monday
afternoon at 2 o'clock from the
Sanborn undertaking parlors and interment
will be made in Forest Park
cemetery. The J. Parsons Stone Post,
G. A. R.. of Camden will have charge
of the funeral services.
