Catherine was born in York County on October 19, 1929 and was the daughter of the late Samuel and Flora (Moul) Newcomer. She was a homemaker and was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Spring Grove. Catherine enjoyed time spent with her family, cooking, entertaining, spending time in Ocean City, MD, mowing grass, and enjoying a beer.
Catherine is survived by her son Samuel Alwine and wife Shannon; and her grandchildren Shelby Alwine and Gavin Alwine. She was preceded in death by her step-son Harry Alwine, Jr; her brothers Charlie Flickinger, Stewart Flickinger, and Harry Flickinger; and her sister Anna Mae Allison.
A Funeral Service in celebration of Catherine's life will be held on Friday, June 9, 2023 at 2:00PM at Beck Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc., of Spring Grove, 175 N. Main St., Spring Grove, PA 17362 with Pastor Alison Kurland officiating. Following the service, she will be laid to rest next to her husband at Spring Grove Cemetery. A viewing will be held from 1:00PM – 2:00PM on Friday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Catherine's memory may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church, 201 S. Main St., Spring Grove, PA 17362.
