Mr. Larkey served in the Air Force for 20 years and worked as a hydraulic mechanic at American Electric Power for 25 years, retiring in 2001. He was affiliated with Union Church.

He was born Feb. 13, 1939 in Shelbyville, a son of John V. and Lucille Scudder Larkey. He married Patricia K. Ford in Reno, Nev. on Feb. 25, 1961. His wife survives.

Also surviving are a son, Richard P. Larkey, Huntington; two daughters, Tina I. Larkey and Lori I. Bruner, both of Huntington; five brothers, Rex Larkey and Randy Larkey, both of Roanoke, Jerry Larkey, Huntington, Johnny Larkey, South Whitley, and Danny Larkey, Warren; a sister, Barb Covey, Huntington; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, Bill Larkey, Jack Larkey, Larry Larkey, and Tommy Larkey; two sisters, Jane Smith and Joan Teusch; and a granddaughter.
