Rebecca Anna Witt was the daughter of James Cannon Witt and M. Francis Thomason. Rebecca was born in Jefferson Co., TN and came to TX with her parents, siblings, and husband between September of 1870 and September of 1871. She married George Washington Irvin September 6, 1870 in Marshall Co., TN. She was the mother of seven children: William Valentine, James Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, John Tillman, Dock Rufus, Lillie Mae and Ruff Irvin (only name). She was a Great Grand Daughter of Caleb Witt, Pioneer Tennessee Preacher and American Revolution patriot. A Great Great Grandaughter of William Horner, Sr., American Revolution patriot.

FUNERAL HELD SUNDAY FOR MRS. G.W. IRVIN, SR.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at three o'clock at the Methodist Church for Mrs. G.W. Irvin, Sr., 86, a pioneer citizen of Bartlett who died at the home of her son, R. Irvin, Saturday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock. Rev. W.R. Underwood,pastor of the Baptist church, was assisted in the services by Rev. C.H. Sisserson.
Mrs. Irvin had been in ill health for several months but only became seriously ill a few days before her death. Mrs. Rebecca Witt Irvin, a native of Tennessee, was born February 7, 1849. She united with the Baptist church in early childhood. In 1870 she came to Texas with her husband, George W. Irvin, and settled on the Gabriel, from
there they moved to this community where they made their home. Following Mr. Irvin's death in 1923 Mrs. Irvin made her home with Mr. and Mrs. R. Irvin.
The deceased is survived by six sons, W.V. Irvin, Tuscon, Arizona; D.R. Irvin,Corpus Christi; who were unable to attend the funeral; J.F. Irvin, Aspermont; J.T. Irvin,
Winters; T.J. Irvin, and R. Irvin, Bartlett; one daughter, Mrs Harris Winningham, Brookshire;one brother, John Witt, Longview; twenty grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.
Burial was in the Bartlett cemetery. Pallbearers were C.R. Harris, T. Grigsby, C. Hennington, Ed Stiles, Bob Hamblin, and A.L. Bentley.
