Oral History:
Richard Tallman went to Michigan to visit his Mother's brother John Chapman, who lived near Fowlerville, Livingston Co, Michigan. There he met Phoebe Ann Fields. She was working in the home of her Aunt Mary and Uncle Hugh Loughlin in Fowlerville and was about 15 years old.

Richard and Phoebe married around 1888 in Michigan. The couple returned to Ohio where Clair, Ackerson and Henry were born. The returned to Livingston Co, Michigan and rented a 191 acre farm from the Norton family on Jewel Road in Marion Township, south of Howell. There Fannie was born in 1901. The Tallman children attended Anderson School.

Due to Richard's failing health (heart trouble) he was no longer able to farm and the Tallman family moved to Jackson, Michigan around 1907 where Richard and his eldest son Clair, used the family horses to hire out as a teamster.

Richard Tallman, 28, son of Edward and Charlotte (Chapman) Tallman b.1860 in Tiffin, Ohio, united in marriage on 11 Sep 1888 at Fowlerville, Livingston co, Michigan with Phoebe Ann "Anna" Fields, 24, daughter of Alonzo and Catherine (Cassidy) Fields, b. 1864, Iosco Twp, Livingston Co, Michigan.

Richard Tallman, age 56, died suddenly at his home on 115 Foote Street on Monday, 15 Nov 1915. His is survived by his widow, Anna, three sons and a daughter; Clair Fields (Elma) Tallman, Ackerson Nickerson (Eva) Tallman, and Fannie B. Tallman all of Jackson and Herny Tallman of California.
