He was born on July 28, 1933, in Glenwood, the son of John Duggan and Iva Echols Duggan. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Alfred Duggan, Chester Duggan, and David Duggan; five sisters, Alta Hamill, Alma Mathew, Bobbie Cogburn, Lottie Love and Bonnie Pounds; and one son-in-law, Terry W. Lambert.
On January 24, 1976, Richard married the true love of his life, Brenda Cogburn. He was a 1950 graduate of Langley High School. Richard was a United States Army veteran having served from 1953 until 1965, a then in the Army Reserves from 1974 until 1993. In 1964, he became a member of the Masonic Lodge in Junction City, Kansas, and the Buffalo Gap Lodge 484 in 1981. Richard was a truck driver for the majority of his work-life.
In his younger years, Richard enjoyed skating, along with singing and playing the guitar. He loved the outdoors, camping and hunting. Above all, Richard's favorite past-time was spending time with his family and friends. Every chance he could, he would crank up gospel singing for everyone to enjoy. Richard was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, who dearly loved his family, and will be deeply missed by all.
He is survived by his loving wife, Brenda Duggan; six children; twenty-four grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; a special life-long friend, John Mitchell; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and a host of wonderful friends.
