She graduated from Marysville High School in 1926, and attended Hall's Business College in Seattle. Helen married Robert (Bob) Emmett Newell, of Monroe in 1938 and in 1942 moved to Everett, WA. They had two children: Marilyn Helen, and Thomas (Tom) Robert. Helen was secretary for the Maintenance Department of Everett School District for 15 years and retired in 1970. They were all Helen and Bob's joy and pride and they have their love to each of them and together they enjoyed life to its fullest. She used to say, "Giving of myself is one of the most gratifying experiences I know." She volunteered at the Everett General Hospital, accumulating over 1,000 hours.
